Background
Tim Sell trained the nursing staff at Tenant Creek Hospital in the Northern Territory in Self Defence in 1994 and trained the nursing staff at Wangaratta Hospital in Aggression Management Self Defence in 1996.
In 2000, Mary Cook, from the Victorian Nurses Union, assessed Tim Sell, his training methodologies, resources and his staff against the Nurses Union high standards. Subsequently, Tim Sell was chosen above the many other Victorian training providers, as the Victorian Nurses Union’s only approved Aggression Management Self Defence Training Provider. Mary then organised a committee of key stakeholders who helped Tim Sell develop the Aggression Management Training Program over a six-month period.
The Committee members consisted of Mary Cook, St. Vincent’s Hospital mental health and emergency and aged care practitioners.
In 2005, Gareth Jones, from St Vincent’s Hospital Mental Health Department, chose Therapeutic Response to Aggression Management (TRAM) as his thesis for his Masters and worked with Tim Sell to improve the Aggression Management Training Program.
In 2006, Tim Sell was approached by Alpha Autism to train their staff in defence against violent autistic people. An Autism clinic in Victoria reported that their staff had been assaulted between 20 to 30 times per day over their 35 venues.
Tim Sell developed a specifically tailored workplace defensive training program for the Autism clinic. In the first month the assaults were reduced to 1, which was tangible evidence of the successful program development and implementation.
Tim Sell has a strong history of delivering successful training programs for the Hospital industry amongst many others, and brings proven first class internationally accredited and police approved instructors.
